The best advice I can give you overall about when you should launch your business is this: "Practice what you preach and do it as early and frequently!" If you want to become an Entrepreneur, there is not time that is too soon, even if you are just taking baby steps at first. If you think art is your passion and you want to run a business related to it, then visit every single museum and art house in your area, and at them question the staff there. If you are into computers or TV, try and find some old equipment for free and take it apart and rebuild it. During that process you might have a stroke of genius that will supply you with a great
company idea. A huge part of entrepreneurship is seeing possibilities in every set of circumstances. A lot of people have this idea that entrepreneurship is just the act of running a company. I think though that if you are in an entrepreneurial mindset, There is always ways to be in an entrepreneurial mode. This may or may not mean running a business. For example, you can work with a entrepreneur, take classes in entrepreneurship, or even be an intern in an industry you like. You can also do volunteer work or try to apply lessons you learned in school to the real-world.When you actually start your own business though, the timing of when
to do that will be most affected by your personal time line. You already know that in some instances, the outcome of some business launches is based solely on the competition it receives. Some ventures may be huge successes right away since they face no competition and demand is high. Other times though, the success or failure of a business is dependent on a bunch of other issues which are unrelated to timing. You should not become overly obsesses with your start date however, but do try to pick the right time.
For certain the right time is never when you would have to rush a business to market before you have had ample time to conduct market research on the concept. You will also want to avoid launching the business during the wrong season. For instance, if you're a student, trying to launch your new video game company during finals week will be a disaster. If you are running a business that will appeal to sun lovers in Florida, you would want to open it in Early march before the spring/summer travel season. Opening that business in fall would be a big mistake!
